Another baseball year is right around the corner and another rough start for the Mets season isn't far behind. News came out yesterday that Mets ace Kodai Senga was dealing with shoulder fatigue and after an MRI we now know it's a moderate posterior capsule strain in his throwing shoulder and from what the doctors have said it's "less worse than the front of the shoulder." That doesn't make it any better for Mets fans but it requires no surgery and only rest and treatment so not horrible news like possibly an elbow injury or something like that.
If you're a Mets fan who has been listening the past 6-8 months you would know that they have their eyes on 2025/2026 as the breakout, they offered $325m to Yamamoto and he decided to go to the Dodgers so the dopes saying "Wilpon 2.0" I'll be the first to let you know you're a fucking idiot and only want to complain. Steve Cohen has put more money into this team than the Wilpons have in the last 2 decades, he is paying over $100m in just luxury tax!!!!! He signed Francisco Lindor to a $341m contract, Cohen also paid to get 2 legends Scherzer and Verlander which didn't work out and that's ok, not every big move works but he was smart enough to realize a bad investment and simply cut his losses (Van Wilder quote). That's what smart people do, it's about the big picture not the immediate success we all hoped for.
Uncle Stevie said he wants to be the Dodgers of the East and we are way ahead of schedule for that, starting with building a prospect machine!!!!! They had the 20th-ranked system just 2 years ago and 16th ranked at the start of last year, and in just 1 trade deadline this team is now in the top 5 (depending on where you look) and as high as the 3rd best-ranked farm system. Once you get that machine going it's time to also spend, this past offseason free agency was very weak compared to next year's class and a lot of money is coming off the books so expect Cohen to drop his wealthy dick on the table. Remember the Dodgers had about a 5-6 year drought before they became the juggernaut they are today, The Mets just won 101 games 2 years ago and underperformed last year, this year I expect a peak of Wild Card contenders but you never know who is going to break out and that is why they play the games. I wouldn't be mad if Stearns called Rachel Luba and worked something out to bring Trevor Bauer in, he can help and when Senga does get back you now have 2 solid arms at the top of the rotation.
